America's War Against Terror Vs India's Terror Against War: 10 Years After

Jaalmag.com has always been an environmentally responsible website. As proof of that, we often recycle our old articles. Like now. Ten years ago, there were the crazy zealots who flew planes into Manhattan’s World Trade Center towers, and, later, as America invaded Afghanistan, marrying Kabul to kaboom, we had pointed out how its approach to combating global extremism differed from that adopted in India. Now that the US observes the 10th anniversary of 9/11, we have updated that post to correctly reflect the positions today. There’s been a long learning process (we, for instance, have learned, that by rejigging old articles, we can save a lot of effort).

1. The Obama Administration identifies the Axis of Evil, but is unsure as to exactly which three Republicans it should comprise of.

The Indian Government identifies the Axis of Evil as Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Arvind Kejriwal.

2. The US still bombs the Taliban.

The UPA Government just bombs.

3. The US has created multiple job vacancies in the Al-Qaeda, though US President Barack Obama cannot add those growing employment figures to the rising unemployment numbers in his own country.

India is still looking for anything remotely resembling strategy, and if it ever finds it, will send its commandos after it.

4. The US empowered the CIA and Navy Seals to liquidate Osama bin Laden.

The UPA Government empowers itself to liquidate the anti-corruption movement.

5. The US has ground troops into Afghanistan.

India has Arundhati Roy.

6. The US launches drone attacks on suspected terrorists in Pakistan.

India launches its unguided missile, Rahu Gandhi, who keeps droning on and on and on…

7. The US banks on its Weapons of Mass Destruction.

The UPA Government banks on its Weapons of Mass Distraction, Kapil Sibal, Digvijaya Singh and Manish Tewari.

8. The US prepares to leave Iraq after having attacked it and executed Saddam Hussein.

The UPA Government prepares to attack in Parliament.

9. The US strategy in the Middle East has the objective of protecting its oil interests.

The UPA Government's strategy is to keep machinery of Government oiled so greasing of palms can proceed as usual.

10. When it comes to Libyan supreme Muammar Qaddafi, the US makes its agenda explicit.

When it comes to Pakistan, India hopes that no one understands that it has no agenda.

The Beggar

Two college students, Akshay and Sunil, are sititng in a taxi in Mumbai when a beggar approaches them asking for spare change. Akshay adamantly rejects the man in disgust. Sunil, on the other hand, whips out his wallet, pulls out a couples of notes and gladly hands them over to the beggar with a smile. The beggar thanks him kindly and then continues to other taxis. Akshay is outraged by his friend's act of generosity. "What on earth did you do that for?" yells Akshay. "You know he's only going to use it on cigarattes and alcohol."
Sunil replies, "And we weren't?"
