Fifteen things we want from Indian cricket (but didn't know where to ask)
1. A complete revamp of the Cricket Board. Starting with Lele.
2. Selections based on genuine quality, not regional biases. Each selector clamouring for his 'boy' has got a bit too much.
3. A captain who does not insist on his own boys. We have had enough of the Kambli's and Dighe's. Hope Sourav Ganguly does not try the same stunt.
4. A little less intrigue and rumours. But that will only come with more transparency. Till then, there's be plenty of theories and kite-flying on everything from personal feuds to that old chestnut, match-fixing.
5. An improvement of the basic facilities for spectators. Those bums on the seats at stadia also count, not just in front of the TV. Right now spectators are treated as if they are merely of nuisance value.
6. A little more determination from our boys. Only Tendulkar and Robin Singh appear to have this quality in ample measure. So perhaps it is time to give Robin more than just that one Test match.
7. A coach who can contribute something to the team. Unlike the present one who appears more interested in settling personal scores. Perhaps it is time for a foreign coach who has no axe to grind.
8. A fast bowler with the stamina of a fast bowler and not the physique of a ballet dancer. Perhaps T. Kumaran is the answer. At least he looks the part.
9. A proper five match Test series and not these one and two Test stuff. When was the last time such a series was played at home?
10. A little less fickleness from our fans. The same guys who were clamouring for his head during the World Cup, were leading the chorus for the return of Azharuddin.
11. Less crowds at practice sessions. The players should be allowed to concentrate at the nets instead of being pestered by journalists, autograph-hunters, agents and other assorted hangers-on.
12. A captain who can kick (white) ass. Ganguly already shown he has the right stuff.
13. A Test victory abroad.
13. A Test victory at hote.
15. All of the above.
