  1. The Bharatiya Janata Party: (addressed to allies, existing and potential) For guaranteed transfers, postings of bureaucrats, pick the BJP every time. For portfolios of your choice, pick the BJP*. If you have persuasive skills and are willing to travel extensively within the country - Chennai, Calcutta, for example - you couldn't do better than join our coalition, by George.

* offer open on first-come-first-served basis and till stocks last.

2. The Congress: (addressed to the voters) We believe in the one party, one family norm, do you? India is one nation, it needs one ruling party and the ruling party needs one ruling family. That is the secret of stability. We do believe that coalitions have a role to play, and a very important one at that, as long as they are in the Opposition. So committed are we to the principle of single party rule that every time there is a coalition ruling, we fulfill our constitutional responsibility of trying to reduce it to a single party. Don't believe us on this, ask the competition.

3. Harkishan Singh Surjeet, general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist): Vote for us and we promise not to form a Government. We also promise to ensure the complete collapse of the Third Front. Then you can have a stable bi-polar polity. You gave us your vote last time and our track record speaks for itself. Within just 13 months, we have ensured that the TDP, the AGP, the National Conference, the DMK and the Samajwadi Party have all left the Front. The Janata Dal is also on the way out. But, there is no room for complacency. The task is not yet complete. Laloo and the AIADMK are unpredictable, what if they form a Third Front? Leave nothing to chance, give us your vote.

4. George Fernandes: (to other "socialists"): I call upon all those from the socialist stream to come together once again to strengthen the BJP's hands. I do this not because of any love for the BJP, but because I cannot forget the historic destiny of Indian socialists. The prime task before all socialists in India has always been to splinter as completely and as often as possible. Today, we are in no position to do that, because we are split up into too many small groups. The way forward lies in regrouping once more. Only then can we split and split again. Let the kaalchakra begin a new cycle.

5. Laloo Prasad Yadav: We are the only true champions of social justice, the rest have all betrayed us. We have given the Yadavs their due in Bihar, ask my brothers-in-law. We have consistently stood by the Muslims and by the Dalits. But, it was time now to move ahead and look at those who are even more deprived. That is why we are supporting Soniaji. She is the most socially deprived, because she is not even a shudra or a Dalit, she is outside and therefore below the caste system. She has been waiting for power for the last eight years after she was deprived of her husband, but these brahmins like Narasimha Rao and Vajpayee have deprived her even of that. We will fight to end this deprivation.

6. Mulayam Singh Yadav: Vote for us, because we remain the champions of the fight against the BJP. The only reason we did not allow the Congress to form a Government was because it cannot champion the fight against the BJP. The meeting between Amar Singh and Narendra Modi is being completely misinterpreted and that is because of a political conspiracy between the BJP and the Congress. The truth is that Amar Singh was meeting Modi only to ensure that the BJP and the SP would not even accidentally be seen on the same side on any issue.

7. The DMK: Our commitment to the minorities cannot be questioned. We won a minority of seats in the elections, we supported the Opposition when it was in a minority and when Vajpayeeji's Government was reduced to a minority, we supported it. Even in these elections, we are joining hands with the BJP because we believe it will remain a minority. It is also a malicious campaign to call the BJP anti-minorities. Has it not sacrificed its Government (and Vishnu Bhagwat) for George Fernandes?

8. The Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee: Nobody upholds Bangla pride like we do. We proved it by not participating in this khichdi Government. We even made sure Tapan Sikdar would not. For the first time in independent India, there was not a single Bengali minister and the Bengalis were saved the shame of being part of the Central Government, which is always seen as corrupt and self-seeking. That is our contribution to Bengali pride. But look at the CPI(M). All that we had gained in the last year would have been lost in one stroke. Not only was the party willing to form an alternate Government, they actually were going to make Jyotibabu Prime Minister. Oh what a shame it would have been for Bengal.

9. Ram Vilas Paswan: Who has betrayed the struggle against communalism - me or Laloo Yadav? Let the facts speak for themselves. Laloo has been the biggest betrayer. To struggle against communalism, you have to let it live and thrive. Laloo has almost finished it off in Bihar. I will not make the same mistake. Today, I will join hands with the BJP and Samata Party to finish off Laloo, because communalism is no issue in Bihar. Once Laloo is finished, it will be. Then I will lead a proper struggle against communalism.

10.The National Conference: We supported the BJP Government because of our commitment to Article 370 of the Constitution. Think of what would have happened if the BJP had not formed the Government. It would have been in Opposition and continuously raised issues like Article 370, the Ram temple at Ayodhya and the Uniform Civil Code. All of these are inimical to the interests of the Muslims and Kashmiris. Soz failed to understand our grand strategy and therefore had to be expelled. The people of Kashmir should not be misled. We will stick to our principled stand of supporting whichever government is in power in New Delhi.

PS: Others like the AIADMK and the TDP are still working on their winning slogans.
